Youth Learn to Sail

This popular‚ hands-on course introduces the basics of sailing and water safety to kids 12-17 years of age. Students learn to rig‚ board‚ steer a sailboat‚ sail out and in through the harbor‚ tack‚ jibe‚ dock and trade crew positions. Every boat has two or more students and a qualified sailing instructor aboard.

This popular‚ hands-on course introduces the basics of sailing and water safety to kids 12-17 years of age. No prior sailing experience is required‚ though the student must have demonstrated swimming skills prior to class (a swim check can be arranged at a local pool.)
Students learn to rig‚ board‚ steer a sailboat‚ sail out and in through the harbor‚ tack‚ jibe‚ dock and trade crew positions. Every boat has two or more students and a qualified sailing instructor aboard. Resilience‚ confidence and teamwork are taught via game play‚ skills development‚ guided capsize and recovery drills and crew overboard recovery training.
Class is held on Monday‚ Tuesday‚ Wednesday and Thursday for two weeks.
