Focusing on two major projects—one, a massive multi-part museum installation and the other, an ongoing project comprised of hundreds of small artworks—she will describe how a sudden idea can spark a complicated work that will take years to complete and, in the process, be mightily transformed. On permanent display at the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, Rock of Ages, Sands of Time represents the vastness of the history of life on Earth, while Book Marks chronicles one human life span. A more intimate project, Book Marks is an ongoing pictorial survey of the artist’s reading history. Page uses old 3 x 5 library check-out cards as her canvas. Housed in a small, two-drawer card catalog case, each artwork represents one book that she has read, from her earliest childhood to today. Book Marks was awarded “Best of Show” at the 2022 international Art of the Book & Paper exhibit, organized by the Rochester Central Library and was published in Book Marks: An Artist’s Card Catalog, which will be available for purchase.
