Gregg Museum of Art & Design - "All Is Possible" Virtual Tour

This exhibition contextualizes Mary Ann Scherr’s early career in industrial design, illustration and fashion during the 1940s-1950s, and special highlights in the form of larger pieces in metal (eg. academic medallions for NC State and Meredith, four aluminum mythological figures and body monitors). Scherr’s range of jewelry design are also exhibited, including chokers/ necklaces and cuffs/ bracelets; titanium work; and smaller pieces/ personal commissions. Many pieces, currently in private hands, are exhibited for the first time.

Since the Gregg Museum of Art & Design is temporarily closed to the public, we have created a virtual tour so that this wonderful exhibition can be enjoyed without leaving your house! We are proud to present Mary Ann Scherr’s, All is Possible. We hope you enjoy the tour.

Musee d'Orsay, Paris: Online Exhibit

The history of the museum, of its building is quite unusual. In the centre of Paris on the banks of the Seine, opposite the Tuileries Gardens, the museum was installed in the former Orsay railway station, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. So the building itself could be seen as the first "work of art" in the Musee d'Orsay, which displays collections of art from the period 1848 to 1914.

HealthCode: Million Mile Month

Working from home? Looking for a fun, shared family activity, even if your family is across town or around the globe? Participate in the Million Mile Month from March 25 through April 30th. A virtual challenge that encourages our local and global community to keep moving and safely connected amid COVID-19. Million Mile Month is a virtual challenge to complete one million miles of physical activity, together as one global community. Individuals register at https://events.healthcode.org/mmm2020 Organizations can sign up at https://events.healthcode.org/wellness With people around the world staying indoors amid the coronavirus outbreak, HealthCode is kicking off April’s Million Mile Month early to encourage everyone to keep moving and stay healthy. HealthCode’s Million Mile Month is a virtual wellness challenge in which participants track physical activity – from walking to running to cycling to yoga – with a goal of reaching 1 million miles collectively as a global community by April 30. With schools, gyms, and offices closed and millions of employees working from home to slow the spread of COVID-19, HealthCode is kicking off Million Mile Month a week early on March 25. “Nothing is more important than the health and wellbeing of our communities around the world as we battle COVID-19,’’ said Steve Amos, CEO, and founder of HealthCode. “Still, social distancing and quarantining is forcing us to be even more sedentary and even more socially isolated. We are kicking off Million Mile Month a week early to give people and organizations an opportunity to maintain healthy habits while battling stress and remaining connected with colleagues, friends, and family.’’ HealthCode, a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, is dedicated to empowering people to live healthier, happier lives through education and raising awareness on the benefits of physical activity, nutrition, the environment, and community connections. Smithsonian National Zoo: Washington - Webcams

Animal keepers and veterinary staff remain working on-site at the Zoo and at the Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia, to provide the usual highest quality care for the animals. The animal webcams remain online, but volunteers will not be operating them, so animals may not be visible at all times.

Call-A-Pacer 2020

For the 27th year, the Indiana Pacers have teamed with the Indianapolis Public Library to present Call-A-Pacer, a collaboration that allows callers to listen to featured Pacers’ players and personalities read from fun, basketball-inspired children’s books. While the library remains closed during the Coronavirus pandemic, fans of all ages can hear excerpts from pre-selected favorites 24-hours a day by calling (317) 275-4444 or (877) 275-9007 or logging onto Pacers.com.

Additionally, fans can download a new Call-A-Pacer phone wallpaper every Wednesday on the @PacersSportsEnt Instagram account.

The schedule of Pacer readers and stories is listed below, with one featured each week beginning April 6 and running through June 27, 2020. Call-A-Pacer, part of the Pacers Cares education initiative, was created to encourage school- age children to read and visit their neighborhood library.
