What is Capoeira?
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines dance, martial arts, acrobatics, and music. Capoeira is practiced like a game where the players try to outsmart and outmaneuver each other using flowing movements, acrobatics, kicks, dodges, and foot sweeps inside of a circle known as the Capoeira “Roda.” Capoeira is art, music, culture, sport, education, and a life philosophy enjoyed by men, women, and children of all ages worldwide.
Why practice Capoeira?
Capoeira is a fun and healthy group activity that's enriching on many levels and can help you create a stronger connection with your body, mind, spirit, and community. It is a healthy form of exercise that can help you develop more strength, endurance, flexibility, and agility and help you achieve better overall rhythm, mobility, and balance. You can make new friends, learn self-defense and music, express yourself creatively, and learn about culture and history. With time Capoeira can become a path to knowledge, self-mastery, self-expression and liberation of the body and mind.
