Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali came together through the Nation of Islam (NOI), an Islamic and Black Nationalist Movement. Malcolm X, already a part of the movement was elated that Ali expressed interest and became a mentor to Ali. In due time, the friendship began to deteriorate because of differing political viewpoints, and Ali’s allegiance to NOI leader Elijah Muhammad.
