First Stage Spring Academy

We offer classes emphasizing the process of becoming strong performers, creative thinkers, and confident young people, for students as young as age 4, up through high-school seniors. Professional theater artists share their expertise with students, fostering life skills through stage skills.

GRADES K4-1: STORY DRAMA – STOMP AND ROAR: DINOSAUR TALES!

Saturdays, April 5 – May 10 at 10:30 – 11:15AM

Bring exciting tales to life through dramatic play! Young people begin to develop their actor tools of body, voice, and imagination by actively engaging in creative play, all while strengthening their ability to focus, cooperate with others, and solve problems.

Increase versatility and work on new vocal and dance techniques while exploring the art of telling stories through words, music, and movement. 

 

GRADES 9-12: IMPROVISATION FUNDAMENTALS

Saturdays, April 5 – May 10 at 12:30 – 1:30PM

The use of character and scene improvisational exercises develop expressiveness, spontaneity, effective partnering and honesty on stage.

 

GRADES 9-12: ACTING FUNDAMENTALS

Saturdays, April 5 – May 10 at 1:15 – 2:15PM

Explore characters, relationships, action and text while developing overall acting skills and confidence.

 

GRADES 6-12: STAGE COMBAT

Saturdays, April 5 – May 10 at 1:00 – 2:00PM

Stage combat is the art of creating realistic-looking stunts, falls, and fights - safely! Students of all experience levels will be able to learn fundamental stage combat techniques with hands-on lessons in a safe and controlled classroom, all while gaining trust in each other and their own physicality.

Young actors will go on a new adventure each week as they utilize creative thinking as a group to further develop their beginning acting skills. Students will work as a group to pull inspiration from popular themes, create their own stories, and act them out together! 

 

GRADES 1-2: PLAYMAKERS – SUPERHERO ACADEMY: TRAINING TOMORROW’S HEROES

Saturdays, April 5 – May 10 at 10:45AM - 11:45AM

Young actors will go on a new adventure each week as they utilize creative thinking as a group to further develop their beginning acting skills. Students will work as a group to pull inspiration from popular themes, create their own stories, and act them out together!
