Grades 6-8
Dive deep into the fascinating world of animal science! Designed for curious kids going into grades 6-8, this camp offers a unique opportunity to explore the science behind animal care and behavior, all while working directly with the animals at our shelter. Throughout the camp, campers will participate in hands-on experiments, meet our Veterinary team, and watch live procedures. By the end of the week, they’ll have a greater understanding of animal science and how they can be advocates for animals in their own communities. If your child dreams of a career with animals, this camp offers an exciting and educational experience that will inspire them to pursue their passion for animals and science.
Camp Highlights:
- Live Vet Procedure: Watch a simple, real-life veterinary procedure in the shelter’s SNIP clinic.
- Anatomy Workshops: Learn about anatomy of dogs and cats while getting applying the knowledge on real X-Rays from HAWS.
- Parasite Awareness & Prevention: Learn about common animal parasites (like fleas, ticks, and worms) and how they affect pets, along with tips on prevention and treatment.
- Animal Health Science Experiments: Conduct hands-on science experiments that teach campers about IVs and vaccinations, including a fake blood draw.
Dates:
