2026 Camp Schedule
Dates: Tuesday, June 16, 2026 – Monday, August 31, 2026
Closed: June 29 – July 3
Days & Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Aftercare: Available until 5:00 p.m. for an additional charge; if interest exceeds availability, aftercare spots will be offered via lottery.
Rates & Fees
- Full-time (5 days/week): $325/week
- Part-time (fewer than 5 days/week): $70/day
- Registration Fee (non-refundable): $55 per child, due at registration, Includes a camp t-shirt this year!
- Deposit: One week of tuition, due at registration
- The deposit holds your child’s spot. If you withdraw before camp begins or terminate enrollment before camp ends, the deposit will be forfeited. If your child remains enrolled for the full duration of camp, the deposit will be applied to the final month’s invoice.
- This year, we are requiring a deposit for every child. To be transparent, last year we experienced several last-minute withdrawals, and with such short notice we were unable to fill those spots. We completely understand that plans can change; however, because we operate under a strict budget, this policy will help lessen the impact of unexpected vacancies.
- Aftercare: $10/day
- Please note: Reimbursements are not provided for vacation days or other absences.
Location & Transportation
Humboldt Park will once again serve as our home base for daily drop-off and pick-up. On field trip days, transportation will be provided by Nestling House Summer Camp counselors using our bus or 8-passenger van. On occasion, due to inclement weather or poor air quality, drop-off or pick-up might occur at Nestling House’s Herman Street location (3200 S. Herman Street).
Children enrolled in aftercare will be transported to Nestling House Herman, where pick-up must occur by 5:00 p.m.
Camp Staff
We are currently finalizing our summer staffing plan, which will include a mix of current Nestling House staff and seasonal staff. More details coming soon!
Camp Activities
Past excursions have included hikes at Grant Park, visits to Retzer Nature Center, and nature walks through Havenwoods State Forest. Campers can expect plenty of time running, climbing, and splashing at places like Village Park, Firefly Grove Park, Imagination Station Playground, and even right at Humboldt Park. We also love building in the sand and cooling off at North Beach, Lannon Quarry, and Bradford Beach. When the weather limits outdoor time, you’ll find us exploring local libraries, museums, or playing games in our indoor shelter at Nesting House Herman.
While our camp team plans a schedule in advance, we remain flexible—following the interests of the children, revisiting favorite spots, and adjusting day to day based on weather and group needs. Our primary goal is to support meaningful, deep play; foster nature exploration; and build strong relationships each day.
More detailed information on camp communication, daily packing list, and the day-to-day logistics of camp will be sent out before the start of camp to all enrolled families. Weekly updates will also be sent out during summer camp weeks.
Food & Allergies
Daily schedules include time for a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Families provide all food and a refillable water bottle each day.
To help protect children with allergies, summer camp is nut-free. Please do not pack any foods containing peanuts or tree-nuts.
Enrollment
Camp capacity is limited to 20 children. Enrollment will be accepted in the following order:
- Full-time (5 days/week) for all summer weeks
- Part-time (fewer than 5 days/week) for all summer weeks, paired with another family to fill a full week (For example: Mon–Wed paired with a Thurs–Fri schedule)
If space remains after Categories 1 and 2:
- Part-time, full summer enrollment that cannot be paired with another family to create a full week
Tuition & Payment Schedule
- Registration fee and deposit are due at the time of registration
- Tuition will be billed monthly during camp weeks, with payment due by the 15th of each month
