Summer Drama Camp

St. Paul's Lutheran is proud to offer a two week drama camp focused on supporting students by building their communication and collaboration skills through theatre.
Those enrolled in this production based drama camp will work as an ensemble to learn, practice, and perform a 30-40 minute play.
Participating in theater is so beneficial for young people as so many life lessons are learned through participation such as:

Summer Drama Camp students will:
- audition & be cast in a roles(s) for the selected play,
- hone their acting skills with character analysis to bring their character to life through various theater games/activities
- learn techniques for line memorization,
- practice & understand stage directions/blocking, and
- have fun bringing the show to life for an audience!
What play will the campers perform? Great question!
Once registration has closed the play that works best with the total number of students enrolled will be chosen. Information about the chosen play will be sent via email prior to the start of camp. All campers will have lines in the play. Some may have more, some may have less. That is the nature of theater. However, every single character in a play is important otherwise the playwright wouldn't have included them.
The Summer Drama Camp will be taught/directed by Patti Punzi, the Artistic Director from Wisconsin Theater Arts. Mrs. Punzi is also a St. Paul's Lutheran School alumni and is very happy to return to the school where she had her first theater arts experiences.
At Wisconsin Theater Arts, we inspire curiosity, engage our young actors to make connections, and educate them through the transformative power of theater. We can't WAIT to get started!

CAMP DETAILS
Ages: grades 4th thru 9th (entering in the 2023-24 school year)
Dates: May 30, 2023 thru June 9, 2023
Time: Monday - Friday from 9:30am - 3:30pm
Location: St. Paul's Lutheran School - Centennial Gym
Performance Date/Times: Friday, June 9, 2023 - 7:30pm
(campers must arrive at 6:30pm for the performance)
**Attendance is essential. Theater is a team based activity, and absences impact the whole group. Only one conflict is excused during the two weeks of camp (with the exception being illness or an emergency). If you have any conflicts with the final days of camp and/or the performance date then please refrain from registering.
