Milwaukee, WI – Amidst social distancing and Safer at Home, the Urban Ecology Center has launched a new virtual education platform to continue its important mission of connecting people in cities to nature and each other. “Urban Ecology Center In My Backyard” provides online resources including on virtual naturalist hikes, activity suggestions for kids and families, research one can assist with while at home and much, much more. “While social distancing has been keeping us cooped up in our houses for weeks, our work is very alive and we want to keep encouraging everyone to get outside in their neighborhoods and connect with nature,” said Anna Aragon, Marketing Communications Manager at the Urban Ecology Center. “In My Backyard” has environmental educational content for families, ideas for how to learn from nature, fun activities to share and more, with the goal of providing tons of resources for all ages to help people enjoy their nearby nature. Here is what you will discover in this virtual learning site: Backyard Classroom. A place to check out resources for fun, lessons and how-tos. Backyard Adventures. While our experts can’t lead you in person, these resources will guide your journey to enjoy your nearest green spaces. Backyard Research. The guidance and inspiration in these resources will help the community conduct their own backyard research that contribute to global projects!
